Sterilising bottles is always an important part of our bottle preparation. It means that I can ensure our bottles are clean and free from nasties before we use them, I’ve also used a steriliser with my breast pump once it’s been cleaned. The reason we sterilise is to prevent any nasty tummy bugs that may be present on babies equipment.
From the day I found out I was pregnant with Zara I knew I was going to breastfeed so a steriliser just wasn’t necessary. Although I soon realised that I had to sterilise any equipment needed for expressing if I wanted or needed to give Zara breast milk from a bottle. At this point I was doing it the old fashioned way with a pan of boiling water. I couldn’t have been more thrilled when Nuby asked me if I wanted to review their Steriliser and Dryer! I jumped straight to the opportunity. A steriliser that sterilises and dries? I couldn’t imagine it.
Now I’m going to jump straight in with the negative. It’s black and shiny. It’s the only negative I have about it because it’s a dust collector. I find myself wiping it every time I walk past it. But it’s a small negative and nothing over the top so it’s manageable!
Now to the good stuff.
What I love most about this product, well apart from the drying feature, is that it is compatible with all the bottles. I tried 5 different bottles and all fitted in perfectly. Most brands of steriliser are only designed to use that brands bottles but not this one from Nuby. It also easily fits in any soothers and my breast pump equipment which is just perfect and I can sterilise it all in one go!
The steriliser comes in 3 different sections, which makes it super easy to clean and empty. The base comes off so you can easily tip out the water after each use and the top comes off meaning you can keep all those teats and soothers sterile while moving the steriliser around.
There are 3 settings, the first is a normal sterilise function. This is a 5 minute steam sterilisation. The second setting is a sterilise and quick dry, 5 minute steam sterilisation followed by a 15 minute dry – this setting gets the everything almost dry but not 100%. The last setting is a 5 minute sterilisation and a 30 minute – this setting gets everything dry and I do mean dry.
It’s a lovely steam steriliser that does the job and does it well, really well. It isn’t too big or bulky, so it doesn’t take up much kitchen space, and the design would fit lovely with most decor as it’s black. So in all honestly I am really impressed with Nuby for the design and functionality of this steriliser and dryer, no more water dropping on your kitchen sides!
You can purchase the Nuby Natural Touch Steriliser and Dryer from the Nuby website for £60 RRP as well as other retailers such as Boots, Mothercare and Amazon.
