Keira’s 16 Month Update

I haven’t done one of these for so long, there is going to be so much to update you all on. The days are getting longer, but the months are getting shorter.
Behind that beautiful face of an angel is the devil, I am sure of it. Either that or my patience has considerably lowered since becoming a mother. It seems that Keira has definitely picked up on my mood swings and stubbornness. She knows exactly what she wants and how she’s going to get it, if it doesn’t go her way then world war three erupts. I could be wrong but I definitely feel like we have entered the “terrible two’s” 8 months early and if this isn’t the “terrible two’s” then I dread to think how they’re going to be, especially with another baby to add to the picture.

On a brighter note, Keira appears to be progressing well and exceeding all of her milestones! She does make me a very happy mommy, when she’s in a good mood! Keira has been walking since she was about 10/11 months old. She took to walking very quickly and has never looked back, crawling is definitely something that doesn’t seem to have ever happened! She’s very confident on her feet and quickly picked up the art of running as it is the fastest way for her to get from A to B! As soon as she discovered walking/running the pushchair quickly become her worst enemy. She will not ever sit in her pushchair, or her Smart Trike, without throwing a HUGE tantrum! So walking it is, even if it takes us half hour to do a ten minute walk!
Talking! Keira is quickly picking up words as she goes along, I find myself telling Darren off for swearing when she is around as I’m anxious for her to pick up on those words. Her first word was dad, of course, and quickly following on from that was car! She can now say a wide range of words which include fish, crisps, juice, nice, yes, this, daddy, mom and daisy (these are the words I can think of from the top of my head). All of those words she uses in association except mom. I get called dad!
Eating! Keira isn’t the worlds best eater. There is only a small selection of food that she will eat, including grapes, yogurt, crisps, chocolate, spaghetti bolognese, pasta, garlic bread, baked beans and beef soup. If she doesn’t like something, she won’t eat it nor will be eat anything else you give her afterwards. She just point blanks refuses to eat! It can be very frustrating. Keira also has a bottle of warm cow’s milk before bed, around 5 or 6oz, and the same again in the morning.
Keira is still very wary of strangers, or people she doesn’t know, but she is most comfortable around women. She gets along fine with other children, great in fact, and she adores both my step-mom and Darren’s mom but she will not go anywhere near my dad, my brother, Darren’s dad or his two brother’s. She will scream and cry until she is back with me or Darren. Keira appears to be getting better with it, but she’s in no rush to change this.
If you wasn’t aware, Keira suffers with eczema. Only a mild case, she has a few patches on her shoulders and across her back, a small patch on the back of her legs, a small patch on her belly and she suffers on her head too. After extensive cream testing we have finally discovered a cream and moisturising routine that works perfectly. The eczema has cleared up so much and is looking a million times better!
I think that’s it for now, at least that’s all I can think of! Keira changes daily and every day she is achieving something new! 16 months ago my life changed dramatically and I’m still loving every moment of it!
