We all love a tag post, and we all love Christmas. What better way to count down to the big day than to do a festive post. Read all about how our family does Christmas and what we love most about the festive holiday.
I love Christmas and it’s been made better now that I have children to celebrate it with. There is nothing more satisfying than seeing your children all excited about the gifts they’ve received and spending quality time with family.
What’s your favourite christmas movie?
Either The Nightmare Before Christmas or Love Actually – always struggle to pick one.
Have you ever had a white Christmas?
From memory, I’m going to have to say no. Although it is possible that I may have forgotten about it if we have had one.
Where do you usually spend your holiday?
Normally at home, but we often go and visit family, or have family visit us so that they can see the kiddies open their presents. I love just being able to relax and spend some quality family time together.
What is your favourite Christmas song?
Oh definitely The Pogues – Fairytale of New York!
Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?
Noooo! That’s cheating. Although I did get bored one evening and wrap all the bits in Keira’s and Joshua’s Christmas Eve boxes.
Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer?
Oh I went through these the other day. There is Rudolph, of course, Donner, Blitzen, Cupid, Vixen, Prancer, Dancer… Hmmm are there any more? That’s all I can think of.
Is your Christmas tree real or fake?
Fake, I’d love a real tree but with little kids and a naughty dog it ain’t happening! It would be a brilliant excuse to use my vacuum more though – ha!
What is your all time favourite holiday treat/food/sweet?
Oh I gave this away a couple of weeks ago in one of my Happy Things posts. Without a doubt my Christmas food love is mince pies. Oh my, I crave them all year round. I should probably buy a share in the mince pie business.
Be honest, do you like giving or receiving gifts better?
In all honestly, I like to receive gifts. I like to believe that someone has taken the time to think about me and what I would like, it doesn’t happen very often.
But I do like giving gifts, I just hate having to buy them. I never know what to buy other people.
What is the best Christmas present you ever received?
I’ve had some fantastic presents over the years. Nothing compares to the birth of my first born, even if she was born on the 29th, she was a late Christmas present.
What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season?
I’d love to visit Bruges. It looks so magical at Christmas time. Maybe when the kids are a bit older!
Are you a pro present wrapper or do you fail miserably?
I wouldn’t say I’m a pro, but I love wrapping presents. I have this habit of wrapping presents several times before the big day, every time I find a nice roll of wrapping paper.
Most memorable Christmas moment?
Definitely my first Christmas with Keira. She was almost a year old and didn’t have a clue what was going on, but it changed my Christmases forever. Just knowing that my Christmases were going to be all about watching my children get excited opening their presents to what they’ve got. I can’t wait for this year now that Keira understands Christmas a bit better.
What made you realise the truth about Santa?
You know, I actually can’t remember how or when I found out that he wasn’t real. Couldn’t have been that traumatic for me.
What makes the holidays special for you?
The time you get to spend with your family. There aren’t many days left any more where family gather together. That makes Christmas even more magical.
And don’t forget those mince pies!
Well that’s all I have for you. Just a little taste of our Christmas and some of our favourite things. Do you do anything special with your family?
I’ve tagged some lovely bloggers, so you should definitely see what they’re up to this Christmas:
