Expressing with Tommee Tippee | Review

Breastfeeding is a magical journey for you and baby to experience. Breastfeeding releases oxytocin, the love hormone. Says it all really doesn’t it. Since finding out I was pregnant with Zara I knew I wanted to breastfeed, but with breastfeeding comes a lot of responsibility. You can’t just pass the baby to your partner when they’re hungry. If you need to do it then you need to get a breast pump to help get that milk out (and pumping is another power all together).

Expressing breast milk is not the easiest of tasks and it becomes even more difficult when your baby only accepts a certain bottle – one that isn’t compatible with your breast pump – and you need to transfer milk around. Cue spilt breast milk and the tears of losing that precious liquid.

Thankfully Tommee Tippee have the solution with the Express and Go kit!

The kind team at Tommee Tippee sent me their Express and Go kit to test out for them. The first thing that caught my eye, and impressed me the most, was that it was compatible with so many different breast pumps. I use a Lansinoh electric pump and I was thrilled when I saw that there was an attachment to use this kit with my pump. Very impressive Tommee Tippee.

The kit includes pre-sterilised pouches, a bottle and pouch warmer, storage case, pouch bottle and breast pump adapters.

It was so easy to express straight into the pouch from my breast pump and I didn’t have to worry about transferring the milk between and bottle and pouch to store in the freezer. The storage case would have been the perfect place to keep all frozen breast milk together, but it didn’t fit in my fridge freezer (a frozen pizza doesn’t even fit in there maybe I need more freezer space).

We were also sent these gorgeous, brightly coloured bottles but Zara just would not take to the teat so I never got chance to use them properly, I love the colours though! The brightness of them attracts you to them and I so desperately wanted to use them but fussy baby said no. She did however like the Ultra bottles we were sent.

The ultra bottles are supposed to mimic a breast, shape and feel, and Zara really got on with them, because of this I transferred the expressed milk into an ultra bottle and she happily devoured the lot. So a big thumbs up for them!

We warmed the bottle up using the pouch and bottle warmer. This was a lot different to the previous bottle warmer from Tommee Tippee and I was certainly impressed with the design. It looked fab and the options were ideal for perfect use. It took 6 minutes to warm up a refrigerated bottle with 5oz of breast milk, which wasn’t too long but I think if it was any longer Zara would have lost it and had a meltdown for waiting too long – she isn’t the patient type.

The Express and Go kit is just the perfect solution to help with expressing. The pouch bottle is a fantastic idea because you don’t need to faff transferring milk between pouch and bottle. Although I did but found it so easy. There was no spilt milk at all whereas with other breast milk pouches I’ve lost almost a whole contents (yes, a few tears were shed that day).

I must congratulate Tommee Tippee for this amazing product and if you too would like to purchase this product, it is available from main retailers such as Kiddicare,  Mothercare, John Lewis and Amazon.

I was sent these products for the purpose of a review. All opinions and views are my own.
