Who’s getting excited that Christmas is nearly here? I know I am, everything is nearly ready for the big day! Our tree is up, pretty much everyone’s present is bought and with just 9 days to go I feel like we’re doing well! It’s still stressful though, I’ve even rewrapped all the presents again because I didn’t like the wrapping paper – I must stop doing this!
It’s time for another Christmas tag post! I love these tag posts, I feel like they really let you get to know a bit more about the blogger behind the blog. This week we have Michal from All Things Mom Sydney.
I don’t think I have one. We didn’t really watch movies at Christmas time because it was always hot in South Africa over Christmas we would always be on the beach.
2. Will you be on the naughty list or the nice list?
Oh definitely the nice list – how boring am I. With two little kids who has time for anything else? Maybe in 18 years when they’ve left home 🙂
3. Where do you usually spend your holidays?
We generally spend Christmas with my parents in a little town in the South of South Africa. It’s a lovely coastal City where we grew up and my siblings come home from all over the world.
Getting to recreate the memories I have with my kids is so special.
4. Show us an embarrassing Christmas Photo.
Not a chance!! My whole family mocks me about how ridiculous I look in a Christmas paper hat and I don’t want the whole world mocking me.
5. Have you ever had a white Christmas?
I’m lucky enough to have had one in Canada a couple of years ago. I have such special memories of that Christmas!
I can’t wait to have my husband and children experience the magic of a white Christmas.
6. Name all of Santa’s reindeer.
Dobby, sleepy, Rudolph – I don’t think I’m even close.
7. What is the best Christmas gift you’ve ever received?
I’ve received a few great gifts and can’t choose the best but I can easily choose the worst… a chair. My parents gave me a chair for Christmas when I was a teenager. It was so bad that I cried 🙂
8. Do you peek at your gifts or do you prefer to be surprised?
I hate surprises, I’m such an A type personality that I buy the gifts and then give them to my husband to wrap for me. I even offer to wrap them but he won’t let me. How bad!
9. When does your family put up your Christmas tree and who decorates it?
We generally put up the tree when the first family members arrive from overseas but we wait for the little ones to be around and attentive so that they can get involved in the tree decorating.
There is generally an unspoken rule that whoever puts the tree up has to help my mom take it down and seeing as no one wants to do that we all avoid it. My poor mom.
10. Is your Christmas tree real or fake?
Always real which in a small coastal city in South Africa is not easy to find. One of our trees was brown down one side before we even got it home.
11. Show us your Christmas jumper.
Ah I don’t have one. But I will be sure to get the whole family matching ones when we have a Christmas in the Northern Hemisphere.
12. If you could be under the mistletoe with anyone, who would it be?
The other day when my husband and I kissed my 4 year old said ‘hey wait for the mistletoe’ it was so sweet. I didn’t even know he knew about mistletoe.
13. What tops your tree?
A beautiful wire angel.
14. Do you make New Year’s resolutions? Do you stick to them?
Yes I do. But I make them pretty realistic so I often stick to them.
15. You have been granted one Christmas wish, what will it be?
That my sisters would have a year of unfettered happiness.
Ahh, some lovely answers! I love what you said about your 4 year old and the mistletoe, how sweet is that! Thank you for joining us, it’s been lovely having you!
