Traveling during the holiday season sounds like a marvelous idea, that is, until you actually start packing and organising everything. Then it becomes a true mess. The traffic is jammed and the airports are crowded with all the other people who came up with the same idea as you. If you factor a newborn into that equation, the situation will become even crazier, and before you know it, you’ll wish you’d never left your home in the first place. Still, if you organise everything perfectly and if you know what to expect, this may end up being your best vacation yet.
How close is it now to the big day?! I am so excited, we are so ready for this, but are you ready for the final installment of our Christmas tag? I know I am! This week we have the lovely Jaymee from The Mum Diaries answering our questions. I have really enjoyed doing this mini series of guest posts, it’s been lovely getting to know the blogger behind the blog! I would like to thank all of our guest posters for taking part.
1. What is your favourite Christmas movie?
My favourite Christmas movie is Elf. It is hilarious and really helps me to get into the festive spirit. It used be Oliver (although not festive) but it used to be played on the tele every year until about 3 years ago.
2. Will you be on the naughty list or the nice list?
I will probably be on the naughty list 🙁 I have been a pretty horrible mum lately and been way too shouty than I would like. Although I have also been good and tried to help others when I can, so who knows.
3. Where do you usually spend your holidays?
I always spend it at home. Nothing beats waking up on Christmas morning and having nowhere to go.
4. Show us an embarrassing Christmas Photo.
I don’t have an embarrassing photo, to be honest I don’t think I have a photo of me at all on Christmas day. I am the one usually taking the photo.
5. Have you ever had a white Christmas?
Not that I can remember.
6. Name all of Santa’s reindeer.
Now I am on the spot umm, dancer, prancer, dasher, vixen, Rudolph, Blitzen, cupid no idea if that is right
7. What is the best Christmas gift you’ve ever received?
My favourite present is a cartoon version of my family. My sister brought it for us and I love it!
8. Do you peek at your gifts or do you prefer to be surprised?
I always try and guess my presents and I am usually right!
9. When does your family put up your Christmas tree and who decorates it?
Our tree goes up end of November and decorated by the boys. I would love a full dressed tree like in catalogues but I just don’t have the time or patience to achieve that look.
10. Is your Christmas tree real or fake?
Fake. Hubby won’t let me have a real one. I really want a real one.
11. Show us your Christmas jumper.
I don’t actually own a Christmas jumper. I know my life is depressing.
12. If you could be under the mistletoe with anyone, who would it be?
Hubby of course!
13. What tops your tree?
Each year the boys make a tree topper. The only photo I can find of it was when it was on their tree.
14. Do you make New Year’s resolutions? Do you stick to them?
I do make New Year’s resolutions but break them by the 2nd Jan. I normally go for the usual loose weight and get healthy. Never happens.
15. You have been granted one Christmas wish, what will it be?
I would love to have my nan back, even if it was just for one day. I miss her every single day. We used to see her Christmas eve every year without fail. We would have a party and have games. As we grew older my siblings and I used the party to do our present swaps and it was really enjoyable. Despite still doing the party, I miss her.
Some fantastic photos from Jaymee there. Especially the cartoon drawing of your family! Thank you for popping over, it’s been loving having you here. I think you have been the closest to naming the reindeer, how does no one know all of their names?!
You can find Jaymee’s blog here, where she posts about her family and everyday life! You can also follow Jaymee on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
We all love a tag post, and we all love Christmas. What better way to count down to the big day than to do a festive post. Read all about how our family does Christmas and what we love most about the festive holiday.
I love Christmas and it’s been made better now that I have children to celebrate it with. There is nothing more satisfying than seeing your children all excited about the gifts they’ve received and spending quality time with family.
As a family growing up, I don’t think we ever really had any traditions around Christmas. We sort of just winged it through and that worked perfectly for us. Of course there were little things like visiting family or friends and I would always watch The Muppets Christmas Carol on Christmas Eve.
Now that we have a family of our own, and now that Keira is old enough to understand, I would like to start our own family traditions, nothing to ‘out there’ just yet but something little and memorable. Something we continue to do for as long as we can really and hopefully the children can one day use these traditions with their families, when they’re older.
