Baby Book Reviews
I’ve always been a fan of books and I’ve always encouraged Keira to look at/read books since she was a baby, so I knew I’d do the same with Joshua. He hasn’t really shown much interest in books until just recently. He loves to have a cuddle and read a good book. So I’ve been on the hunt for some board books that he would enjoy and I’ve found 4 that he’s taken an interest in.
Baby Animals (Touch and Feel)
This was the first book that Joshua actually took too. It features 10 pages of 5 different animals all containing different materials for baby to feel. It’s probably the only, intact, touch and feel book we have left as Keira destroyed all the others, but it’s been well loved at the moment. Joshua particularly loves to feel the fluffy animals.
Dear Zoo by Rod Campbell
What a classic book! I remember this one from my childhood, so of course it was going to be apart of my children’s childhood! Joshua took to this book really well. He loved lifting the flaps and he plays hide-and-seek with the animals all the time! The flaps keep him entertained for such a long time! Although they aren’t very baby-friendly.
Buster’s Zoo by Rod Campbell
I found this book in Asda and it was the one book that Joshua paid most attention too. He loved the animals, but the thing that made me buy it the most was that Keira took a shine to it too. It made it an easy purchase when both kids showed an interested. There are loads of different animals and loads of different materials for baby to feel. Joshua still favours the fluffy animals with this book and he’s forever pointing to the different animals and trying to talk to me about them.
Hide-and-Seek Pig by Julia Donaldson
This is our most recent book purchase and its definitely a favourite. It was a quick pick while on our shopping trip and I didn’t even look through it before purchasing, I just put it in the trolley. However, it was a good choice. Joshua happily sat on my lap, after his bedtime bottle, and watched while I read to him. He patiently waited until I had finished to go back and find all the animals under the flaps and he took a particular liking to the little pig. But he hasn’t stopped flicking through the pages since we bought it. Again, the flaps are very baby friendly but we haven’t managed to pull any off just yet!
These are all fairly cheap budget board books that can probably be purchased from many main retailers. I tend to buy a lot of our board books from Asda as I find they’re the cheapest and usually do a few offers on books.
What books have your littles taken a liking too? Do you have any suggestions for my book worms?
