40 Week Pregnancy Update | Baby #3
SYMPTOMS This week, there has been a whole array of symptoms. It’s like I’ve gone from minimal to full blown in just a few days! So I’ve listed, daily, what symptoms I’ve been having as well all the general symptoms I’ve been having too.
Tuesday | 39+2 – I woke up feeling super crampy with lower backache. I could barely sleep all night thanks to my legs being constantly restless and achey. All I wanted to do was constantly move my legs! Sleepless nights aren’t new to me now though. Also been having loads of “lightning crotch” as well as plenty of pressure on my bowels. The feeling of constantly needing to go is just annoying now! Everything had died off by mid-morning.
Wednesday | 39+3 – I’ve been losing small bits of my mucus plug for as long as I could remember, but I lost some bigger bits of it while I was on the toilet, hopefully this is a sign that things are progressing down there. Bowel movements have been very frequent and very loose, I must have gone 4 times within an hour. Knees and legs are still so achey, struggling so bad to get comfortable even during the day. Lightning crotch is still playing the field.
Thursday | 39+4 – I’d had a few contractions, about 4 or 5, during the night. They were lasting around 45 seconds and coming every 5 minutes, but they died off as quickly as they came. I woke up super crampy with awful lower backache, after I’d been awake for about an hour it had all died off though. I had an on and off crampy feeling all day.
Saturday | 39+6 – Woke up with a very strong crampy feeling in my belly and lower back. It disappeared as soon as I got up out of bed though. Bump feels considerably lower today.
APPOINTMENTS No special appointments this week, but I did see the midwife on Saturday. Everything was looking good. Blood pressure and urine were fine, as was baby’s heartbeat. I explained all my symptoms to her and she told me that it definitely sounds like something has been happening and could be happening soon, she also performed a membrane sweep! The midwife said that my cervix was very favourable and she’d be very surprised if I didn’t go into labour naturally. I’m taking it all with a pinch of salt though, anything can happen and with needed two previous inductions I know that there is more of a chance of it happening again. According to my notes the midwife has said my cervix is 2-4cm dilated and very stretchy, it’s 2-4cm long, its very soft and is in a mid position which gives me a Bishop’s score of 6. Apparently a score between 6-10 is favourable for a natural labour and a score of 0-5 is unfavourable so I’m keeping some fingers crossed.
Since the sweep I’ve had some awful backache, like its been absolutely horrendous, and I’ve had a few braxton hicks contractions so lets see if it leads anywhere. I’ll be seeing her again on Wednesday (at 40+3) if nothing has happened.
The midwife also advised that I’m still on the home birth team’s list and I don’t have to make a decision until I’m in labour about where I want to give birth so that it a HUGE relief off my shoulders as I have been quite worried about having to make a decision there and then!
FEELING Annoyed by all the false alarms and definitely feeling impatient now. As Darren said the other day, she could have been here by now if we were to be induced at 37 weeks so that’s probably why we’re more impatient this time around. Apart from that I’m well, I’ve had a bit of a runny nose but no other signs of a dreaded cold.
BABY How she has any more room to move around in there I don’t know but she does and it’s always her feet that are sticking out! I barely feel her in my ribs, which I am very grateful for but she constantly sticks her feet into my sides or she sticks her bum right up!
EXCITED ABOUT Meeting her of course. It feels like these final days drag so badly and Keira is forever bombarding me with questions of when little sister will be here! I think it’s just Joshua and the dog that have no idea what’s going on! I’ll be very glad when these contractions become real.
So happy due date to me! Hopefully this little lady doesn’t keep us waiting for too much longer now!
