38 Week Pregnancy Update | Baby #3
38 weeks: Your baby is about the size of a leek
Your lanky leek is now more than 19 1/2 inches long from head to heel and weighs nearly 7 pounds.
Ah another week closer to my due date and it feels like I’m even closer to my goal of having the birth I want! The birth I feel would be best for me and my baby! As much as I can’t wait to meet this little girl kicking away inside of me, I can’t help but feel apprehensive of the new challenges I am yet to meet once she is here!
SYMPTOMS I’ve had some dreadful symptoms this past week, all of them reminding that I am very pregnant! The main one is pressure! So much pressure down below and that comes with the sharp pains I get down there too so I know that little one is getting herself right down there now! With this comes that pregnancy waddle, the swagger! I’ve never noticed just how much I have been waddling, until now. My hair is looking so much fuller too, I’ve noticed that I haven’t had to wash it as much as I normally either, which is fab because I just don’t have the energy, or the patience, to blow dry and straighten my hair. I wish I could have pregnancy hair forever! Sleep has become distant, most nights I really struggle to get back to sleep once I’ve woken up for Joshua, the dog or to have a wee. There’s nothing to explain why because I can easily get comfortable and I feel tired, I just can’t fall to sleep.
APPOINTMENTS I had my blood flow and doppler scan this week and that went well, as usual. All my levels were perfect and normal for my gestation. I did speak with the home birth team this week and they’ve booked me in for next week to speak to them about the chances of me having a home birth. The midwife on the phone made it sound like a home birth is still very much an option for me as long as I felt okay to go ahead with it. So I’m looking forward to that chat next week as well as the other growth scan to see how baby is growing.
FEELING Overall, I’m generally well. I’m tired beyond belief but I’m okay. I have zero energy for anything and I always get the urge to sort the house out, I just don’t have the energy to do it! One day soon, maybe.
BABY She’s doing well, she’s still active although on the slower side of active. I spoke to the midwife about it, but I haven’t been worried about it. I just feel like I know the movements are slower because, well there can’t be much room left. The midwife advised that if I was worried to head to triage, but I don’t feel like we need to.
EXCITED ABOUT I am super excited about having the chance of a home birth again! I don’t think anything can top that this week. Just knowing that there is a chance that I could get a home birth makes it all so exciting again and puts away all worries about being away from Keira and Joshua for longer than needed!
