35 weeks: Your baby is about the size of a honeydew melon
Your baby, now weighing in at 5 1/4 pounds and measuring more than 18 inches, doesn’t have much room to maneuver in your belly.
I’ve had a particularly quiet one, thankfully, this week. Everything seems to have died down and I’ve been able to relax more, which I’m so very grateful for because the weather this week has been horrendous! With temperatures reaching 30°c and over it has not been comfortable carrying all this extra weight!
SYMPTOMS I haven’t really had many symptoms this week. I’ve still got the pain in my bum cheek, mainly during the night, and backache is awful when I get into bed. I am finding it a little bit difficult to get comfortable in bed now, I may have to try getting a pillow for between my legs! My heartburn definitely has a trigger, garlic! It was the same with Keira and Joshua but still I eat foods containing the stuff. I LOVE garlic so it’s difficult to remove it from my diet. I’ve had a few nights though where I’ve wanted to rip my throat out because it’s been so bad!
APPOINTMENTS So this week has been a big week for us regarding appointments as it was the growth scan that decides what we’re doing! I went to the hospital with high hopes of little miss gaining enough weight to go above the 10th centile, which would mean we could go to our due date (and beyond) as well as continue our care with the community midwives. After a massive wait we had our growth scan where we found out that baby had dipped below the 10th centile again, I never felt disappointed though as I think deep down I sort of expected it. The consultant explained that we would need to be induced between the 37th and 38th week. I have to go back for a blood flow and doppler scan at 35+4 weeks so they can keep an eye on my placenta (which has been fine so far) and then I’ll have a final growth scan the week after (at 36+4 weeks) to check little miss where they will book my induction for the following week. So now we only have a few short weeks to really prepare for the arrival of another baby!
FEELING After receiving the news of an early induction, I am feeling very unprepared. I don’t even have anything for my hospital bag prepared, let alone anything of baby’s! There is still so much left for us to buy, we best get a move on! Also feeling very overwhelmed that we’ll be meeting our baby sooner than we’d hoped, I really hoped that I would be able to make it to my due date (and over) and hope that my body would go into labour naturally (after 2 previous inductions) but now that can’t happen.
BABY She’s doing well, even if she isn’t gaining as much weight as we’d like, but she’s happy enough in there and I know that because her movements haven’t changed! She’s still head down which is reassuring! Still no name for her though, guess we best put our thinking hats on and find a name we like! She’s also weighing approximately 4lbs 2oz now, according the all the baby websites she should gain half a pound week from now until delivery so with that in mind she should weigh 5lbs something at 37 weeks.
EXCITED ABOUT Of course I’m excited to be able to meet her, I just wish it was under different circumstances. But I’m 100% excited now to get mine and baby’s hospital bags ready! I love preparing the bags and picking out those first clothes she’ll wear!
I finally got round to updating my YouTube channel with the latest update, you can watch it here if you’re interested!
