32 weeks: Your baby is about the size of a jicama
Your baby is taking up more and more space in your uterus, weighing in at about 3 3/4 pounds and measuring 16 3/4 inches from head to heel.
What even is a jicama?! Last week’s coconut looked bigger. Yes, it’s time for another update. The weeks seem to be flying by now, which has it’s good and bad points.
I’ve had a few different symptoms this week, round ligament pain being the major one! I’ve always had a bit of it in previous pregnancies, and I don’t know if it gets worse with each pregnancy, but it has been so bad this week! I can barely move sometimes because it’s so bad and if I make a sudden movement it feels like I’ve pulled a muscle but a lot sharper and more painful. I’ll be happy when it stops.
I’ve been getting some cracking braxton hicks contractions, wow! One night they were coming in waves and I thought this is it, I was panicking because I didn’t even have anything ready, but as soon as they came they disappeared and I cursed at my body for being so mean!
My appetite is getting smaller as the days go by and I’m finding myself snacking less, whereas I normally snack throughout the day I’m not wanting to anymore. I just always feel full, and drinking a glass of water feels like it fills me up to so I guess that puts it in my mind that I don’t need to eat. But, I don’t have the desire to eat.
So, I had another blood flow and fluid level check at the hospital and everything was looking good. All levels were normal and the midwife that performed the scan was happy with how baby was looking. She booked me in for a growth scan next week so we’ll see how she’s grown since!
I saw my home birth midwife, for potentially the last time, and had a discussion with her about what has been going on and where we’re at. She basically said they don’t normally do home births for babies under the 10th centile, but it still is mother’s decision and they have delivered a few at home. She also advised that if I was happy with her growth and there was nothing else wrong with her then I should try and get as close to my due date as possible, under the consultant’s guide. So it literally will be played by ear after each growth scan and consultant appointment. I guess we’ll just have to see how we go.
As far as me and how I’m feeling (which I’ve never actually said), I’ve been great. Exhausted, obviously, but great. I don’t feel like pregnancy is getting me down and I’m still doing everything as I was before, well apart from picking up dropped objects, but I really don’t have anything to complain about!
So this week I can officially start drinking raspberry leaf tea, I drank it with both Keira and Joshua and I have loads left over. Whether it “toned” my uterus or not, I don’t know but anything’s worth a go!
