31 Week Pregnancy Update | Baby #3

31 weeks: Your baby is about the size of a coconut
Your baby now weighs about 3 1/3 pounds and measures more than 16 inches from head to heel.

Ahh another week to talk about, although I realise that this is how I have been starting every update! Maybe I need a new opening line.
WOW! A coconut?! Baby is getting pretty big now, although I know our little one is nowhere near that size just yet as she’s still measuring smaller than average.
So I’ll just get straight into the results of our growth scan. Baby is still measuring small, she’s still below the 10th centile line but she’s gaining weight. She’s currently following her own line which sits just below the 10th centile, as you can see below (ignore the terrible photo quality, I’ve cracked my lens).
My consultant is happy with this, especially as I have a normal range of fluid around baby and the blood flow between placenta and baby is normal too. The consultant just thinks that we’ll be having a smaller than average baby.
So now the plan is to have weekly fluid level and blood flow checks as well as 2 weekly growth scans. They doubt we’ll need to induce early, unless she stops gaining weight, but they will probably induce between 37 and 38 weeks. So it looks like a home birth is definitely out of the picture now.
I did ask the consultant if we’ll be able to go all the way to my due date and she said no, but I’m just going to see how we go and if we continue a good weight gain then I’ll discuss other options.
As far as symptoms go, they are getting more TMI as the days go by (so if you get a bit cringey about details then I suggest skipping this part, it’s a bit graphic but brutally honest). I either suffer with constipation or diarrhea, which is awful, I miss normal bowel movements!! My lady regions have become swollen thanks to the increased blood down there. I can no longer see anything there anyway so who knows what it looks like anymore.
I can tell when she’s moved position, she’s normally got her back on my right hand side but I feel her roll over and move her back to the left and it’s actually really uncomfortable. I know she’s been head down for ages now as midwives and the scans have told me so but I also feel hiccups low down which is another indicator. The other day, she must have turned herself all the way around because I could feel hiccups under my ribs, but she’s definitely back in the head down position. Lets stay that way!
So I think that may be it this week for updates. I’m not really sure there’s much else to mention, I’ve diverted my attention to sorting out Joshua’s first birthday so we haven’t bought anything for baby since last week but I’m sure it won’t be long until we do!
I have an appointment with my midwife this week so I’m sure I’ll have to fill her in with all the details but at least I’ll have a second opinion on what may or may not happen!
So here is a bump shot before I round this post up!

I'm now 34 weeks and measured 3 weeks behind this week so we've also discovered baby is measuring on the small side! Sorry you don't get to have your home birth, but hoping for a good delivery for you. Things are up in the air for us at the moment, I'll found out this week if we need extra monitoring or not for the rest of the pregnancy! Thanks for linking up to #MarvMondays. Kaye xo

Congratulations – it's not long now until baby arrives. It's great baby is in the right position. Those hiccups can get so uncomfortable when baby gets big. Best of luck to you in your last few weeks. Thanks so much for joining us at #BloggerClubUK
